Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA) is an analytical technique that studies the thermal stability, decomposition process, and composition of materials by measuring mass changes with temperature or time. The basic principle is to record real-time mass changes of samples in a programmed temperature-controlled environment (heating, cooling, or isothermal), thereby revealing physical (e.g., volatilization, sublimation) or chemical (e.g., decomposition, oxidation, reduction) reactions during heating.
Instrument Model and Technical Parameters
- Instrument Model: Mettler TGA2
- Technical Parameters:
- Temperature range: Room temperature–1500°C
- Temperature accuracy: ±0.01°C
- Heating rate: 0.1–100°C/min
- Atmosphere: N₂, air
Sample Submission Requirements and Packaging
- Sample quantity: 20–100 mg (packed in a plastic centrifuge tube)
- Sample form: Liquid or solid
- Samples must be free of low-boiling solvents or water.
- Samples must not crack, explode, volatilize, or produce highly toxic gases within the testing temperature range, as this may cause irreversible damage to the instrument.
