Storage Modulus, Loss Modulus , damping Factor testing and analysis

Shanghai Jituo provide services for material storage modulus testing, loss modulus detection, and loss factor analysis.

Storage Modulus (E' or G')

It refers to the ability of a material to store elastic deformation energy under dynamic alternating stress, reflecting the elastic properties of the material. When a material is subjected to periodic stress (such as tension, compression, or shear), the storage modulus characterizes its "elastic stiffness" against deformation, i.e., the ratio of stress to elastic strain.

Loss Modulus (E'' or G'')

It refers to the ability of a material to dissipate energy due to internal friction (viscous dissipation between molecular chains) under dynamic alternating stress, reflecting the viscous properties of the material. When the material deforms, the loss modulus characterizes the degree to which it converts mechanical energy into thermal energy (irreversible loss).

Loss Factor (tanδ)

Also known as "damping factor" or "loss angle tangent", it is the ratio of loss modulus to storage modulus. It characterizes the relative proportion of energy loss to energy storage during dynamic loading of the material.

Testing Method: Dynamic Mechanical Analysis (DMA)
